About My Idea
I currently have a value based drafting (for an overview visit http://www.footballguys.com/bryantvbd.htm) system that I utilize in Excel for my own drafting purposes. It is extremely effective across three sports football, hockey and baseball. I am in need of someone to help me turn it into an app for Apple and Blackberry products. I would also like this app to allow for the data to be easily updatable for someone without programming knowledge.
I would like to beta test this product with my NFL projections with the potential to blow it out into other sports. I have a vision for the user interface, but I am open to suggestions.
The app would work in a simple manner. My existing data can help GMs make better picks based on the round they are in and who has been taken. It can be used at the draft itself to avoid costly mistakes due to adrenaline or pressure or before hand to develop a draft sheet.
For this example we will use a Fantasy GM who is at the draft. Before hand he inserts the size of his league (10, 12 or 14 teams typically), the roster positions (QB, RB, WR, TE, FLEX, D, ST) draft type (standard, snake, auction) and the appropriate point values.
At the draft his first pick comes up and he sees the most valuable player available. He selects him and waits until his next pick. So as to not take the fun out of drafting he puts in the player he wants next. The app tells him the five players who are more valuable as well as the position he should be targeting. The GM then takes the player he wants until the draft is over.
I would also like to blow out modes where all players drafted could be quickly identified and eliminated to stop embarrassing double drafting and more accurate projections.
The tool can also be used, although less effectively, without any of the metrics uploaded and in the middle or at the end of drafts.
